Quad/Graphics? Quadracci likens Mexico plant neighborhoods to Brookfield

The plants in Mexico now operated by Quad/Graphics Inc.?

?The reality is what?s going on up there is drug gangs killing each other. We?re mostly around Mexico City,? Quadracci said. ?A lot of the real violent stuff is happening up near the border. When you go to these plants in the places where we are, it?s like going to Brookfield. There?s so much development going on. There are cranes everywhere.?

His comments came in response to a question from a shareholder at the company?s annual meeting at Quad/Graphics? corporate headquarters in Sussex.

Quad/Graphics reached an agreement with Transcontinental?

As a result of the deal, Quad/Graphics acquired plants in Azcapotzalco, Toluca and Xochimilco, Mexico.

Quadracci admitted that the areas around Quad/Graphics? plants in Mexico aren?t immune to violence.

?It?s always a concern in any country that?s developing like this. In areas where we are, we have seen killings nearby, but it?s typically been one drug dealer encroaching on another drug dealer?s territory.?

Quad/Graphics has had to take precautions in other countries where it operates due to crime, Quadracci said.

?You see it. In any of these countries you have to be careful,? he said. ?When we go to Sao Paulo (Brazil), we have to be careful because there?s crime there. Argentina is tough. You have to take precautions. Where we have our people stay is always thought of. We make the appropriate plans.?
